Yesterday was my 70th birthday. I didn't want it to arrive, but it did. I wasn't going to do anything special to celebrate, but close friends said we should at least go out to dinner. Then it hit me. I would take them all out to dinner and to make it special, I rented a limo. We met at Bob & Barb Lembke's house at 5 p.m. We picked up good friends Joe & Dee Jones from their home in Sunland Springs and took them to the Lembke's house. The third couple were close friends, Kay & Gordon Harris. So at the lembke's house we had drinks and light appetizers then when the limo arrived at nearly 6 p.m. we partied a little more in the lino before arriving at the Landmark restaurant in Mesa. We all enjoyed wonderful dinners complete with a great salad bar (room really) and desserts. It was a fun party. Best of all were the loving letters I recieved from my children. It isn't so bad to be 70. Now I can get away with anything.
May 5 Here in the west Cinco de Mayo is a big party day. The celebration is because 4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862. Basically it is a day when you have an excuse to drink margaritas and eat Mexican food. This year it happened on a Saturday and we found a very festive party at the El Pedrigal Shopping center in Cave Creek. It is a pretty shopping area with nice shops but that day a mariachi band played while we were able to sample different salsas and chips from local restaurants. ![]()
![]() May 2 There is nothing new here. I am still trying to get better and Ron works two days a week at our church's school. Last week we took a drive to Palm Springs to visit with Judy and Cec before they took off for the summer. They have a very nice place there (in Indio really) and have ordered a very nice park model which will be delivered in September.
April 2 I am a little late updating this page. Actually we had company and I got sick with double pneumonia and there hasn't been much happening right now. Spring has definitely sprung so it is very lovely here. The snow birds are leaving or have left so it is also quiet here. Too bad that they leave so early and miss all the gorgeous blossoms everywhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() March 1 I am resting now after the two months we spent rehearsing for the play. It was a great success with a standing ovation each of the four evenings. It was the best one performed here and my second to direct. The cast was terrific and we all worked hard but had fun. I put pictures in last month's What's New page so if you didn't check in last month take a peek at some dress rehearsal pictures. My sister, Bunnie and her husband Jerry were here for the play and the day after. We took them to our favorite tourist thing---Tortilla Flat. It was a fun drive. Poll
The old question is: As a full-time RVer where
do/will you spend your winters?
